Old Southern industrial buildings remade for today's sophisticated renter
Bringing fresh elements into old structures is an area of expertise for Mary Cook Associates. The firm's interior designs are integral to Forest City Enterprises' transformation of the early 1900s warehouses and cigarette factories into upscale rental buildings. In the three distinct projects - the Carolina, the Consolidated and the Philip Morris - the firm used deep gray, purple and yellow-green paints to offset the industrial features such as exposed brick walls. Plush bold-colored modern chairs and sleek hardwood floors complete the contemporary look and feel.
