Old Southern industrial buildings remade for today's sophisticated renter
Bringing fresh elements into old structures is an area of expertise for Mary Cook & Associates. The firm's interior designs are integral to Forest City Enterprises' transformation of the early 1900s warehouses and cigarette factories into upscale rental buildings. In the three distinct projects - the Carolina, the Consolidated and the Philip Morris - the firm used deep gray, purple and yellow-green paints to offset the industrial features such as exposed brick walls. Plush bold-colored modern chairs and sleek hardwood floors complete the contemporary look and feel.
