The Face is Familiar...

Club & Business Resort Magazine: December 01, 2008

After 110 years and a number of piecemeal revisions, the need to fully renovate the interiors at Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Illinois could no longer be ignored.  The 55,000 sq. ft. Tudor-style clubhouse, while still quite handsome on the exterior, was simply not living up to its potential inside, and revenues were showing the strain.  The focus in this project was creating a memorable and multi-functional space that could engage current members while driving new membership, as well.  Mary Cook & Associates created a timeless interior that spoke to more than just the golfing crowd, providing ample room to dine, socialize, and celebrate the EGC tradition.  Member Alex Zera says “Where people were embarrassed before to bring customers out, and our guest rounds were down, now they’re dreaming up reasons to have parties…from the increased use we’ve seen almost immediately, it’s clear that we achieved our goal:  to bring the club up to modern standards without losing its character.”
