Mary related her experience working on the design of the office of a jeweler in a luxury high-rise building, complete with built-in wenge wood work surfaces, shelving and cubby holes. Each drawer pull was hand made with a different type of stone. In addition, she stressed the need for adaptability in home office furniture in multi-purpose spaces.

"If workplaces enter other, more formal areas of the home - places where you'd entertain, clients want dual-purpose furniture," Cook said.
